Eating with the fishes

January 28th, 2008

Kong Kong turn one gazillion years old in January. We celebrated his birthday by having dinner at Fish House Vera Cruz.

Kong Kong had the lobster and king crab legs. Ah Ma only had soup! Mommy and Daddy also had fish, and it seemed like they enjoyed it.

But most exciting was the restaurant had aquariums everywhere! I didn’t know it, but I love watching fish! They are colorful and move in the strangest ways. Everyone took turns carrying me to look at them all. The big yellow ones are the easiest to see and they don’t move very fast.

The young boy at the table next to us made quite a mess throwing cereal and sugar packets all over the place. Mommy hopes I’m better behaved when I’m in a high chair. Daddy hopes I’m not attracted to such "bad boys" when I’m a teenager. He said I’m already grounded for even looking at him.

Photo Booth

Apple’s Photo Booth for isight cameras is pretty fun – if mostly useless.

Grump Fest

January 11th, 2008

Things aren’t all peaches and cream here (not that I’d know what they taste like).

I am a high needs, high maintenance baby. Some days I don’t let anyone do anything but soothertain me (aka sooth/entertain me) –  purposely restricting my naps to mere minutes, maximizing parent-child contact ratios.

It’s the nurses and doctors that tell my parents I’m "highly sensitive" or "highly alert" – my parents have no frame of reference having lived baby-free lives for so many years.

Good thing I’m cute!

Pretend Christmas!

December 27th, 2007

My Texas Grandma and Grandpa flew in on the 26th of December. Boy are their arms tired. They brought Uncle Greg and Aunt Natalie, too. We all pretended it was still Christmas so we could open presents in the evening.

Mommy even washed my Christmas outfit so I could wear it again. Now my bib that says "My first Christmas" isn’t technically true. It’s my second Christmas in as many days!

My Texas relatives wanted their first meal to be In ‘N Out burgers. They can’t get them in Texas and everyone thinks they are yummy burgers.  I wouldn’t know yet. Then they had pizza for dinner. These Texas folks have dainty gourmet palates, can’t y’all tell? I reckon we’ll have steak and potatoes tomorrie, yee haw!

Those Texas folks really like football, so we watched the Motor City Bowl. We also just sat around catching up on old times. I haven’t seen them since November, so everyone took a turn holding me. But mostly Grandpa hogged me all to himself since he was sick last time and flew home early for my sake.

Finally, we were supposed to get down to business and open Christmas presents together in the evening – but Grandpa only wanted to play with me instead! Everyone else exchanged gifts while he paid no attention to the whole affair. He said I was the best and only present he needed. But that’s tough luck, ’cause we got him gifts anyway. Finally Grandma stole me from him, and they made him open his presents.

I got a fuzzy book that really fascinated me. I even reached out and grabbed it.  Everyone was shocked since I don’t pay much attention to foreign objects or my toys yet.

Since everyone was on Texas time, we turned in early. I still made Mommy and Daddy stay up though. I don’t go down easy after a full day of activities.

Uncle Greg was supposed to change his first poopie diaper EVER. But Aunt Natalie took over when things looked hopeless. We still have several days to train him

Merry Christmas, Everyone!

December 25th, 2007

Merry Christmas, Everyone! I’m here at Ah-ma’s house. But Ah-ma isn’t here–she is working! She’s a nurse, and nurses are always needed. Uncle Jon and Auntie Karen are in Shanghai.

We had Singaporean steamboat (shabu shabu) for Christmas Eve Dinner last night. I slept through some of it. But I was awake for the gift giving. We opened all the presents since Ah-ma would be working on Christmas Day. It was fun!  Mommy and Daddy received their very own shabu shabu set from Ah-ma. I even got a Christmas dress.

Daddy took more video than photos. I’ll make them post that soon.

For my gift to Mommy and Daddy this morning, I laid awake for an extra hour and just grunting and flinging my arms around with no screaming or demands! They got to sleep into 8am! Sometimes I get them up at 6am, so this really was a good gift on my part.  Pa rum pum pum pum.

Texas Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Greg and Natalie are coming the 26th! Yeah! More presents and people to carry me around!

Ah-ma’s big party

December 16th, 2007

On Saturday, I made my biggest trip out of the house yet. I traveled to my Ah-ma’s house 80 miles away. I slept the whole time because my parents were boring. My daddy was reading about fussy babies. I had no idea what he was talking about.

Ah-ma threw a party in my honor for turning one month old. She invited a lot of new friends for me to meet.

Bath Time with Tegdiw

December 15th, 2007

I like taking baths with my mirror friend, Tegdiw. You can see her in the photos below. She likes baths as much as I do. We’ve even been known to toss around a smile or two.  Mommy and Daddy get real excited when we smile. I don’t want them to get too soft, so I make sure I fuss when it’s time to get dressed after the bath. Potluck with the co-workers

December 14th, 2007

I had a big day yesterday.

I traveled the furthest I ever have from home and even got to ride on the highway. We had lunch with all of mommy’s friends at work. I met a lot of people and got passed around like a present. I don’t mind so much — I like the variety!

Hair apparent

December 12th, 2007

Mommy & daddy got their hair cut today by Katie. It’s about time since daddy’s hair was getting really shaggy.

We also stopped by daddy’s work and met his coworkers.
