I was strolling to the park one day in the very merry month of May

May 17th, 2008

I now go to the park on a regular stroll. Sometimes, they let play with the park rides. I like the swing but only when there’s someone swinging with me. Today, I met Kaya. She’s almost 2. She kept looking at me funny and saying, ‘baby.’  But the big news of today’s trip: I got to play in the sand!

A walk to the beach

April 20th, 2008

I’ve been going on lots of walks lately. We almost always stop by the park on the way to the beach. I like to watch the other kids play. I sometimes jump up and down and squeal and laugh at them. Daddy pretended I was a big kid and took me down the slide. They even put me in the swing and got all excited and shouted "Yeah!" as I oscillated gently at a pace a fly wouldn’t notice.

The beach holds no particular charms for me other than another place folks congregate. I like to watch them there, too. Adults seem to think walking up and down the path is nice. I sometimes complain and demand to be carried so I can see better. This time I got to eat on the beach.

Lawrence Welk Resort

February 3rd, 2008

I spent several days at the Lawrence Welk Resort. Ah Ma and Kong Kong have a time share there. They have had it for many, many years. Mommy used to go there as a little girl.

It was a short trip, uneventful by my standards. But those crazy adults seem to think relaxing in a new place is worth getting out of bed for.  A few old family friends stopped by to see us. Even Uncle Jon and Auntie Karen stopped by. We made them sleep on the couch.

There were many snowbirds from the East Coast at the resort. The all looked and acted like Grandmas - oohing and ahhing over me. I even flashed a smile to a few of them. They liked that.

It was mostly business as usual for Daddy, he worked on his computer. But he had a few more breaks from me ’cause Ah Ma and Kong Kong spent time with me.

Eating with the fishes

January 28th, 2008

Kong Kong turn one gazillion years old in January. We celebrated his birthday by having dinner at Fish House Vera Cruz.

Kong Kong had the lobster and king crab legs. Ah Ma only had soup! Mommy and Daddy also had fish, and it seemed like they enjoyed it.

But most exciting was the restaurant had aquariums everywhere! I didn’t know it, but I love watching fish! They are colorful and move in the strangest ways. Everyone took turns carrying me to look at them all. The big yellow ones are the easiest to see and they don’t move very fast.

The young boy at the table next to us made quite a mess throwing cereal and sugar packets all over the place. Mommy hopes I’m better behaved when I’m in a high chair. Daddy hopes I’m not attracted to such "bad boys" when I’m a teenager. He said I’m already grounded for even looking at him.

Pretend Christmas Two!

January 8th, 2008

Auntie Karen and Uncle Jon spent Christmas in Shanghai. We saved our mutual Christmas presents and exchanged them in 2008 and pretended it was Christmas again. We went to Auntie Karen and Uncle Jon’s house in Pasadena and they had a real Christmas tree for our pretend Christmas. It was also close enough to Auntie Karen’s birthday so we celebrated that too.

Auntie Karen and Uncle Jon gave me a funky Penguin Bowling. They really aren’t for bowling but for touching and playing. They are made of many colors and textures, and each one makes a different sound. I think they should be called Bowlings Pin-guins! Get it? Bowling Pins and Penguins?? I slay myself.  They also gave me a Tummy Time mat shaped like a body board. I still don’t like Tummy Time, but I’m working on it.

We all had Dot’s Cupcakes to commemorate Auntie Karen’s birthday. Mommy was happy about that. She likes all manner of cakes – no matter what size, especially ones with lots of extras and frostings. Auntie Karen got a Wii for her birthday from Ah-ma. Uncle Jon seemed happy about that.

My first trip to the Beach!

January 8th, 2008

So I live pretty near the beach, but I’ve never been! I’ve never even been out for a walk in my stroller. Daddy usually bjorns me.

Anyway, on the last day of 2007, with the weather a little nicer with the sun out, the Taylor clan and Mommy walked me to the beach. My first trip to the beach wasn’t very exciting. I didn’t even get sand in my toes or sea water in my diaper.

They all ate cheeseburgers several hundred yards from the breakers while I got a bottle.

Later we went to the Bolsa Chica Wetlands to look at birds and trash. Texas Grandpa likes to look at birds when he’s not looking at me. The ground was too soft for stollers, so he carried me in the Baby Bjorn. I slept mostly (that’s what I do on outings).

Ah-ma’s big party

December 16th, 2007

On Saturday, I made my biggest trip out of the house yet. I traveled to my Ah-ma’s house 80 miles away. I slept the whole time because my parents were boring. My daddy was reading about fussy babies. I had no idea what he was talking about.

Ah-ma threw a party in my honor for turning one month old. She invited a lot of new friends for me to meet.

Potluck with the co-workers

December 14th, 2007

I had a big day yesterday.

I traveled the furthest I ever have from home and even got to ride on the highway. We had lunch with all of mommy’s friends at work. I met a lot of people and got passed around like a present. I don’t mind so much — I like the variety!

Hair apparent

December 12th, 2007

Mommy & daddy got their hair cut today by Katie. It’s about time since daddy’s hair was getting really shaggy.

We also stopped by daddy’s work and met his coworkers.
