Happy Mother’s Day!

I made sure mommy felt like a mother today and made her feed me, clean me, dress me, comfort me, walk me, you name it. We also talked to Texas Grandma and later went to pick up my ama from the airport. She recognized me right away even though I’m much bigger now.

Can you believe I’ve been around for 5 months? We celebrated by taking a family trip to Costco and then stopping by the Hawaiian BBQ place so my parents could pig out.
I’m now unofficially between 15.5 and 15.8 pounds (my daddy’s estimate. We won’t get my official weigh in until 6 months). My hair is getting thicker but you can still see my scalp. I can burp on command. And since I’ve finally been able to taste some real food, my daddy pulled out the Diaper Genie instead of just tossing my diapers into the trashcan. Now, there is never any doubt when I have a poopy diaper.
Since I haven’t been posting all my adventures in the past few months, I finally had time to catch up. So don’t miss the back-dated posts:
- Cute Fest III
- New photos added to Stick to Your Knitting
- A video of my first real food (for those who consider rice cereal real food).
- A photo of my first two teeth at 4.5 months!
- What I do with my daddy — type this blog!
- Playing with the alphabet slideshow.
- Learning about another girl named Widget (!!)
- Something I learned from my daddy…
- And I added more photos to my Chinese New Year celebrations.
Happy Easter!
Here’s a picture of me and my bunny. She’s not made of chocolate but I like to eat her anyway. This is also my easter outfit that my Ah-ma gave me. I spit up on the bunny bib. Sorry Ah-ma!

Gong He Fat Boy!
Okay, one week late but hey, I’ve been busy growing! Chinese New Year festivities began last Thursday and continue through the weekend. What a long holiday!
This is my first one and I quickly learned that it pays to be a kid on this holiday because of money-filled red packets. My Uncle Jon and Auntie Karen both gave me one. My Ah-Ma gave me a Hello Kitty packet. I still haven’t decided if I’m a fan of the cartoon kitty but Mommy is and I love Mommy!
I got to get out of the house for Chinese New Year and visit Uncle Jon & Auntie Karen’s home in Pasadena. They took us to a Cantonese restaurant in Alhambra called The Kitchen. It smelled really good but they wouldn’t let me try anything — not even the jelly fish! Oh well. At least I got to wear my hot-pink cheongsum, a gift from Auntie Karen’s sister Helen. Thank you Auntie Helen! Gong He Fat Boy to everyone!!

Eating with the fishes
Kong Kong turn one gazillion years old in January. We celebrated his birthday by having dinner at Fish House Vera Cruz.
Kong Kong had the lobster and king crab legs. Ah Ma only had soup! Mommy and Daddy also had fish, and it seemed like they enjoyed it.
But most exciting was the restaurant had aquariums everywhere! I didn’t know it, but I love watching fish! They are colorful and move in the strangest ways. Everyone took turns carrying me to look at them all. The big yellow ones are the easiest to see and they don’t move very fast.
The young boy at the table next to us made quite a mess throwing cereal and sugar packets all over the place. Mommy hopes I’m better behaved when I’m in a high chair. Daddy hopes I’m not attracted to such "bad boys" when I’m a teenager. He said I’m already grounded for even looking at him.

Auntie Karen and Uncle Jon spent Christmas in Shanghai. We saved our mutual Christmas presents and exchanged them in 2008 and pretended it was Christmas again. We went to Auntie Karen and Uncle Jon’s house in Pasadena and they had a real Christmas tree for our pretend Christmas. It was also close enough to Auntie Karen’s birthday so we celebrated that too.
Auntie Karen and Uncle Jon gave me a funky Penguin Bowling. They really aren’t for bowling but for touching and playing. They are made of many colors and textures, and each one makes a different sound. I think they should be called Bowlings Pin-guins! Get it? Bowling Pins and Penguins?? I slay myself. They also gave me a Tummy Time mat shaped like a body board. I still don’t like Tummy Time, but I’m working on it.
We all had Dot’s Cupcakes to commemorate Auntie Karen’s birthday. Mommy was happy about that. She likes all manner of cakes – no matter what size, especially ones with lots of extras and frostings. Auntie Karen got a Wii for her birthday from Ah-ma. Uncle Jon seemed happy about that.

My Texas Grandma and Grandpa flew in on the 26th of December. Boy are their arms tired. They brought Uncle Greg and Aunt Natalie, too. We all pretended it was still Christmas so we could open presents in the evening.
Mommy even washed my Christmas outfit so I could wear it again. Now my bib that says "My first Christmas" isn’t technically true. It’s my second Christmas in as many days!
My Texas relatives wanted their first meal to be In ‘N Out burgers. They can’t get them in Texas and everyone thinks they are yummy burgers. I wouldn’t know yet. Then they had pizza for dinner. These Texas folks have dainty gourmet palates, can’t y’all tell? I reckon we’ll have steak and potatoes tomorrie, yee haw!
Those Texas folks really like football, so we watched the Motor City Bowl. We also just sat around catching up on old times. I haven’t seen them since November, so everyone took a turn holding me. But mostly Grandpa hogged me all to himself since he was sick last time and flew home early for my sake.
Finally, we were supposed to get down to business and open Christmas presents together in the evening – but Grandpa only wanted to play with me instead! Everyone else exchanged gifts while he paid no attention to the whole affair. He said I was the best and only present he needed. But that’s tough luck, ’cause we got him gifts anyway. Finally Grandma stole me from him, and they made him open his presents.
I got a fuzzy book that really fascinated me. I even reached out and grabbed it. Everyone was shocked since I don’t pay much attention to foreign objects or my toys yet.
Since everyone was on Texas time, we turned in early. I still made Mommy and Daddy stay up though. I don’t go down easy after a full day of activities.
Uncle Greg was supposed to change his first poopie diaper EVER. But Aunt Natalie took over when things looked hopeless. We still have several days to train him
Christmas Day Transpires
Ah-ma was working today, so Christmas wasn’t as eventful as Christmas eve. I got all dressed up for the occasion with my second of two Christmas outfits Ah-ma bought me. I let everyone sleep a little later than usual – my present to Mommy and Daddy. I even had a morning nap on Daddy. I spent much of the afternoon happily cooing and flailing my arms. I didn’t nap much after morning, so I got fussy by evening.
Bravely, the clan took me out to eat Peking Duck in San Diego. They knew I was cranky, and I let them have it a few times. The restaurant was loud and no one noticed. I got to have my own meal – bottle of breast milk, afternoon vintage. I slept in the car on the way home as I am wont to do.

Merry Christmas, Everyone! I’m here at Ah-ma’s house. But Ah-ma isn’t here–she is working! She’s a nurse, and nurses are always needed. Uncle Jon and Auntie Karen are in Shanghai.
We had Singaporean steamboat (shabu shabu) for Christmas Eve Dinner last night. I slept through some of it. But I was awake for the gift giving. We opened all the presents since Ah-ma would be working on Christmas Day. It was fun! Mommy and Daddy received their very own shabu shabu set from Ah-ma. I even got a Christmas dress.
Daddy took more video than photos. I’ll make them post that soon.
For my gift to Mommy and Daddy this morning, I laid awake for an extra hour and just grunting and flinging my arms around with no screaming or demands! They got to sleep into 8am! Sometimes I get them up at 6am, so this really was a good gift on my part. Pa rum pum pum pum.
Texas Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Greg and Natalie are coming the 26th! Yeah! More presents and people to carry me around!
