3 Months Old!
Well, I’m three months old now! I don’t think Mommy and Daddy had any idea what they were getting into when I was conceived approximately one year ago. So technically I’m one year old! Of course, Mommy and Daddy wouldn’t find out about me until March 2007.
I won’t get my next official doctor’s check up until I’m four months old. So you’ll have to do without any official physical stats.
Some new things I do:
I laugh out loud! Not just a happy smile. Not just a sweet little squawk. But a real giggle. Only Mommy has made me laugh out loud (or LOL as the kids call it). Daddy tries real hard to make me laugh, but he just can’t do it!! Sure I’ll smile for him. Even make a few happy noises. But nobody makes me shake with joy like Mommy! Hurray for Mommy!
They tried to make a video of me laughing. Silly humans. I was on to them and pretended to be occupied with other things. Maybe someday I’ll let the rest of you in on my laughing. Until then, I’m saving it just for Mommy!
Another new thing I do is roll over! All the time! Mommy and Daddy have trouble setting me down ’cause I just won’t stay put anymore. They have to be especially watchful on the changing table. After three months of horrible screaming every time I was put on Tummy Time duty, I now LOVE it! Even when I get grumpy and start fussing about being on my tummy, if they turn me on my back, I flip right back over and start complaining again! They just can’t figure babies out!
For the first time ever I actually fell asleep on my own with no external aids! My parents weren’t even watching me closely. They turned around and I was out without being rocked or held or personally attended to. They didn’t even you resort to devices of a rocking or vibrating nature. Those never work anyway – I’m on to their tricks.
Some things I still do:
I still sleep through the night! Yeah! Mommy and Daddy are real happy about that. I only sleep through the night because Mommy is eternally vigilant and a really good "shoosher." One little peep out of me, and she’s shooshing me back to slumberville.
I still don’t like my swing, or my bassinet, or my glider, or any other place those silly adults try to put me down that is not in their arms or lap. Although I’m making pretty good progress playing in my crib or playpen as long as a fancy mobile is twirling around.
I still demand to be walked around a room when I first enter, or I will squirm and fuss. A lady needs to know her options.
I still like getting walked up and down stairs in some worn out human’s arms. Daddy does it most often, but our weight ratio doesn’t tax him. I prefer to make my soother really work out. When Ah Ma does it, her arms get sore! And Mommy works up a sweat, too.
Some things I don’t do anymore:
I don’t sleep on Daddy much at all anymore. He misses the good times! I only sleep WITH Mommy now. I’m not swaddled much anymore. I never did like it, and Daddy has given up on trying to sooth my screamings with those archaic methods. We’ve moved on.
Daddy and Mommy gave up trying to get me to sleep in the bassinet. They packed it up. I’m almost too long for it. Now that I roll over, it’s too narrow to accommodate my twistings.
