Infant potty training
Here I am at three-weeks old in my birthday suit. My daddy changes my diapers. He read about how kindergartens around the country are having to send some new students home on the first day of class because they are still in diapers.
He researched potty training on Amazon and found out about how other non-Western cultures potty train infants. He bought a book and has been making funny noises and holds me over this bucket when I make a poopsie or pee. I think it’s a funny game, I laugh and babble while on the changing table and often trick him into thinking I’m going to pee or poo. He has to just stand there holding me for nothing! But occasionally I do give in and poo or pee for him. He gets really excited. (Me too! I look forward to getting my diaper changed.)
My Auntie Karen said my poo looks like Chinese/Thai Peanut Sauce you get at the restaurant. But obviously Mommy does not, cause she washes it away as soon as I make it for her. And don’t worry Daddy doesn’t play this game when I’m upset or crying.

Me at 3 weeks old!
I guess daddy got the idea after this:

I was a good girl today — just ask my parents. We got to stop by Polly’s to eat a late lunch. All the other customers ooohhed and ahhhed at me. And I only cried once, maybe twice. It was my first time outside, other than going out to see my doctor. You can see Daddy hasn’t had a haircut since waaaaaay before I was born.

Jon & Karen’s big dinner
Unkie Jon made Mommy and Daddy and guest a big fancy dinner of Hong Kong style comfort food (at least that’s what Auntie Karen called it ). I wouldn’t know as I didn’t get to eat any of it.

This is my first Thanksgiving. A whole bunch of people came over and it was lots of fun. I slept mostly. That’s what I do when lots of people are around. You can see Mia really enjoyed the dinner, too. Analisa’s Mom, her brother Tony and cousin also came. They brought a yummy carrot cake and lumpia (Filipino version of the egg rolls). Marie Callender made the Turkey and fixins. But she didn’t come, she was too busy.

Here’s a bunch of photos mostly of me at the doctor’s office goofing off on Daddy’s lap while Mommy stuck the camera in my face. At the end I included a few of my friends and Daddy holding me. You’ll have to match the picture with the names.
Daddy is the one that looks much more worn out than everyone else. Gary is wearing is Boston baseball cap and tried to tell me about the Red Sox winning the some big game, but I don’t remember cause I slept through it. Anyway, I hate socks and try to kick one off in secret places so Mommy can never find a matching pair.
Texas Grandma, Aunties Analisa and Karen each get a turn to hold ma and make it look easy. These pictures are misleading. I’m high maintenance and I will not let you relax with me in your arms. I demand soothing up-and-down action from my handlers or I let them have it.

My auntie Analisa and uncle Ricky took good care of me and my parents in the second week of my life. They cooked and cleaned and even changed my diaper! My parents don’t know how they can ever repay them.
The only thing my parents could offer was to play with their 2.8-year-old daughter, Mia, who looks like she should be in magazines as a child model. Daddy said he’s glad he had Mia around to show him that soon his screaming, pooping, feedbackless lump of skin would be a minature person and a whole lot more fun to talk and play with.
My friend Mia also has a blog and I stole the idea from her. She’s almost as cute as me! ![]()
And here’s her visit to the beach:

Tummy Time!
Less than two weeks old and daddy expects me to crawl!

I am 2-weeks-old today, that seems both a short time and a very long time to Mommy and Daddy. Perhaps that’s because they’ve had one week’s worth of sleep for the entire two weeks. Here I am in a brief moment of serenity (after a change and a feeding). Last week I was 8lbs 10oz at the doctor’s check up, up from 7lbs 13oz at one-week-old. So yes, I love to eat.
Yellow fever
I almost didn’t get to go home from the hospital with my parents on day two because my Billy Rubin count was too high! I don’t know who this Billy kid is, but he’s not invited to any of my parties from now on! The doctors say I had jaundice! Since the Newport harbor was overcast, I had to rely on the UV phototherapy lights for sun. My yellowness went away after a week but only because I was sent home with two light pads that I had to sleep with 24/7.
What are Billy Pads? Watch my video:
